Kraft Paper: An Unexpected Hero 🌿📜
The answer to our question lay in a material that has existed for years but is rarely used in products like umbrellas—kraft paper. Known for its strength, flexibility, and biodegradability, it was the perfect candidate for our project.
But creating an umbrella out of kraft paper wasn’t as simple as it seemed. The material had to be enhanced to withstand rain and wind while maintaining its biodegradable nature.
We experimented with various treatments, including natural water-repellent coatings like beeswax and coconut oil, to ensure the umbrella had the protection it needed without compromising its environmental integrity. This was just the beginning of our journey toward a fully sustainable alternative to plastic umbrellas. ☔♻️
