It all started with a simple realization—rain comes and goes, but the umbrellas we use to shield ourselves from it stay behind for centuries. Every year, billions of plastic and metal umbrellas break, get discarded, and contribute to the growing waste crisis. What if an umbrella could serve its purpose, protect you from the rain, and then disappear naturally, leaving no trace behind? This idea became the foundation of Greenstart, setting us on a journey to reinvent the umbrella with sustainable materials that work with nature, not against it. 🌍♻️

Finding the right solution wasn’t easy. We needed a material that was strong enough to withstand rain and wind, yet biodegradable enough to break down naturally. After countless hours of research and testing, we found our answer: kraft paper. This durable, biodegradable material had the key properties we needed—but it wasn’t enough on its own. The umbrella also had to be waterproof and sturdy enough for daily use. Through countless prototypes and collaborations with experts in sustainability and product design, we discovered ways to enhance kraft paper. By treating it with natural water-repellent coatings like beeswax or coconut oil, we created an umbrella that is functional, eco-friendly, and beautifully designed—proving that sustainability doesn’t have to come at the expense of performance. 🌍♻️

Our journey hasn’t been without challenges. One of the biggest hurdles was balancing durability with sustainability. How do you create an umbrella that lasts long enough to be practical, yet breaks down naturally without leaving a trace?
